TEARS OF LLORONA EXTRA AnEJO TEQUILA 750ml
Tears of Llorona is a rare, small batch, extra anejo Tequila, aged five years in oak barrels that have previously held scotch, sherry, and brandy. This unique triple barreling and extra-long aging creates a complex, layered fusion that is more like a cognac or a very old whiskey, yet it retains clear agave notes. Master Distiller Germ?n Gonzalez harvests only high altitude, late season blue agaves from the volcanoes in Jalisco, known for their high sugar content.
Germ?n Gonzalez is considered by aficionados and critics to be one of the best master tequileros alive. Making tequila has been a generational family passion for Germ?n. He was taught his craft by his father, Guillermo Gonzalez Diaz Lombardo, with whom he worked on what is now considered the first true super premium tequila to be imported to the United States — the Chinaco tequila from early 1990s fame — as well as the inspiration for todays hand crafted tequilas.
Germ?ns father was taught by his father, and so on, going back generations. Indeed, if you go back through Germ?ns direct family line, you arrive at General Manuel Gonzalez, President of Mexico 1880 to 1884. In fact, General Gonzalez is one of the more compelling figures in Mexican history. His role in the events of May 5, 1862 — yes, thats Cinco de Mayo — are the stuff of legend and its significance to Germ?n and to Tears of Llorona are depicted below.
